Fund allocation to support local, deserving projects

Thornhaugh Environmental Association (TEA) is a steering committee, made up of representatives from the local area, which allocates funds to support local, deserving projects.

Project applications are considered by the TEA committee but all administration, registration and grant-payment handling is carried out by The South West England Environmental Trust (SWEET).

is an independent, not-for-profit company and registered Environmental Body (EB) that works within the Landfill Communities Fund, providing services to community groups, local authorities, waste management companies and other EBs and associations.

Where does the funding come from?

The Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (LTCS) encourages and enables landfill operators (LOs) to support a wide range of environmental projects by giving them a 90 per cent tax credit against their donations to Environmental Bodies, e.g. SWEET. These donations are capped at 6.0 per cent of the LO's landfill tax liability.
